Africa Trade Week
Africa
the new home of trade
Africa Trade Week is a collection of two trade shows covering the food and trade sectors. The shows, Africa’s Big 7, and SAITEX gather together a range of South African and pan-African buyers to source products and services from a global manufacturing base. The shows take place from 18 – 20 June 2023.
Africa represents one of the last global markets opening to international investment and contains some of the fastest-growing economies in the world. International trade alone makes up approximately 25% of sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP. With the recent launch of the operational stage of the African Continental Free Trade Area, experts are expecting the normalising of trading rules and reduction of tariffs to boost growth and broaden economic activity. This has now created the world’s largest free trade area and now makes it considerably easier to access the massive market represented by Africa’s over 1-billion, majority young, citizens.
However, accessing the African market requires a presence in Africa, and face-to-face meetings are valued to build the relationships necessary for business. Africa Trade Week, with its component trade shows operating for over 20 years, is known as a destination for African buyers to come and source the latest products covering hair and cosmetics, hardware, clothing, and textiles to retail-ready food products, amongst many others.
Both independent sellers, as well as country trade development agencies, utilise the show to exhibit their latest offerings for those wanting to cement their place in the market as well as new market entrants. We feature a sectorised exhibition area, as well as b2b matchmaking services, workshops, and masterclasses, to allow attendees to not only learn but also network and do business.
